It's That Time Again!

It's 10 PM on June 7th and I'm excited. I have an 8AM flight tomorrow morning to Boston. Seth is picking me up at Logan and my annual Cape Cod Classic weekend will begin! 54 holes of golf in 3 days (maybe a few more). The usual suspects will be there, and a few new faces too. Seth will be barking orders at everyone and nobody will pay attention. The golf will be a blast. The courses will be awesome. There will be lots of close matches and lots of stories to go along with them. A few dollars will change hands. There will be some card games and pizza and beer. It will be a great time to catch up with old friends while playing my favorite game. It will be a great time whether I pay good or bad. And it will be over too soon.

Bags are packed I'm ready to go! Cape Cod Classic 2012 here I come...

The Cape Cod Classic moves to new format

This year the CCC moves to an individual format leaving the much loved, but tired Ryder Cup format behind.

Flights

There will be three Flights. "The Champions Flight", "The PGA Flight", and "The NationWide Flight"
Each Flight will have four players
The flights will be established by handicap with the low four handicap players in one flight, the middle four handicappers in a second flight and the high four handicappers in a third flight
The goal is to win your flight, and prizes will be awarded to the winners of each flight.

Matches

The golf matches will remain the same as in prior years. On Saturday morning we will play a 2-man, four-ball match.
Saturday Afternoon will be a 2-man, scramble match
Sunday will feature 3, 6-hole individual matches.

Parings

Parings for the Saturday team matches will be determined by an A/B blind draw.
The low 6 handicappers will be designated "A Players" and placed into one hat. The high 6 handicappers will be "B Players" and placed into a second hat.
An A player and a B player will be pulled at random to form a team.
No team can have 2 players from the same flight. If any team consists of two players from the same team we will re-draw
Opponents are determined by the total team handicap. The two teams with the lowest team handicap will play against each other, then the next two, and then the last two.
On Sunday each flight will play as a foursome

Points

Players earn a point for each match they win and 1/2 point for each match that is halved.
The maximum amount of points that can be earned by each player is 5

Winning your flight

The player with the most points in his flight wins.
If there is a tie, the tie-breaker is the individual match between the two players.
If there is still a tie we go to a putt off!
A cash prize will be awarded to the winner of each flight

Cash Pool

As in previous years we will have a cash pool for each day.
This will be very much the same as in prior years.
Details for this will be provided on the day of the tournament
